Issues + Solutions

Learn more about your problem water issues and our simple and clear solutions. We custom-build all of our equipment to ensure it's right for your water conditions. Our water filtration systems target water quality issues from chlorine and industrial/biological contamination to naturally occurring substances in your drinking and household water.

Hard Water—Caused by a build-up of minerals in your water like calcium and magnesium, hard water can be found in well water and even city water. Untreated, it can cause damage to pipes, shower heads, dishwashers, and water heaters. We suggest having a free water test to find out the levels of hardness in your water. We can provide a customized solution for your home.

Iron/Rust in Water—Iron in water can stain sinks and laundry and collect in pipes and water-using appliances, which leads to clogged filters, pipes, and shower heads over time. The most effective way to remove it is with a water softener or specialty filter. We suggest having a free water test to find out the intensity and extent of the iron in your water. We can provide a customized solution for your home.

Bad Taste in Water—Not all water contaminants are easily seen, and some are only noticed by taste. Bad tasting water can we caused by:

  • Hydrogen Sulfide which can produce a rotten egg smell

  • Dissolved solids which cause a musty, earthy wood smell

  • Chlorine used in the municipal water treatment process

  • Metallic tastes and smells from mercury, lead, arsenic, and iron seeping into the water supply

We suggest having a free water test to find out the nature and extent of what's causing the bad taste in your water. We can provide a customized solution for your home.

Smelly Water—Common sources of smelly water is hydrogen sulfide and chlorine. Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless corrosive gas that has the characteristic odor of rotten eggs. Chlorine is a powerful oxidant and is commonly used as a disinfectant in commercial and household sanitation, bleaching, and in maintaining swimming pools. Since the water is different in every home, we suggest having a free water test to find out the intensity and extent of the odors in your water. We can provide a customized solution for your home.

Contaminated Water—Contaminants commonly found in well water are Arsenic, Lead, and PFOA/PFOS.

Arsenic is a chemical element that naturally occurs in the earth's mineral deposits and dissolves in groundwater. Michigan has naturally higher arsenic levels in groundwater.

Lead enters drinking water primarily as a result of corrosion or wearing away of materials in the water distribution system and household plumbing that contain lead. Lead is a concern because it is a toxic metal that can cause immediate effects at high doses and long term effects if it builds up in the body over many years.

PFOA and PFOS are also known as perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid is becoming a big concern throughout Michigan. The health risks of exposure to the chemicals include developmental effects to fetuses during pregnancy or to breastfed infants, cancer, liver effects, immune effects, thyroid effects, and more.

We recommend a yearly 3rd party lab test to identify the levels of contaminants in your water. Based on the results, we can provide a customized solution for your home. Give us a call at 734-646-6161 to schedule a FREE water test and consultation.
